Knowledge for College

The Knowledge for College (KCG) program is a vital component of ACAD’s vision. With this program, we seek to provide early collegiate social skills training to graduating high school students as they transition into institutions of higher learning.

ACAD will accomplish this goal by inviting high school seniors from public as well as private high schools to a one day seminar, held in the summer, which will enhance their social experience(s) and expectations of life in a university setting. We will provide handouts and hold mock sessions that pertain to modern college-life issues. This will bring students from all races so as to better enhance the experience and knowledge to be gained and shared, respectively. ACAD also hopes to make mentors out of these students so they can teach what they have learned to their siblings, friends and others.

ACAD also provides the cost of a college application fee for up to 5 students! In 2007, we were able to cover Armene Galstyan’s admission application to California State University Northridge for her wonderful essay on how she identifies the link between her planned major and diversity.

We look forward to helping more students transition into higher education in 2008 and beyond!
